When does the LoL season end?

2026 Season 3 ends on January 6, 2027 at 23:59 UTC. It is the last season of the 2026 ranked year, so ranks reset when it ends. Before the reset, check the Challenger and Grandmaster cutoffs or how many wins your next rank takes with the wins calculator.

How the ranked reset works

Ranks carry through a ranked year and reset when it ends.

Riot splits each ranked year into three seasons, which start in January, April and August. Your rank carries over from one season to the next. Riot resets ranks once, when the year’s last season ends.

After the reset, Riot places you about a full tier below your final rank. The highest starting rank is Emerald I, so a Diamond, Master or Challenger player restarts in Emerald.

Riot made one exception in 2026. Patch 26.9 reset every Master, Grandmaster and Challenger player in NA, EUW, EUNE, BR, LAN and TR to Master 0 LP at the start of Season 2. Riot called the mid-year reset an exceedingly rare event and gave the unstable ladder after the January reset as the reason.

Players count the years as seasons too. 2011 was Season 1, so the 2026 ranked year is also called Season 16.

End-of-season rewards

What Riot hands out when a season ends.

Since 2025 Season 1, Riot gives a Victorious skin to players who win 15 ranked games in Solo/Duo or Flex during the season. Riot also gives a chroma that matches your final rank.

Riot requires Honor level 3 for end-of-season rewards. It posts the details for each season about a month before the season ends.
