Key takeaways
- Riot grants Rustiest Blitzcrank for free to every account that played at least 20 games of League Classic before October 21, 2026.
- Riot announced the grant on October 27, 2026 and says the skin arrives in your collection "in the coming days".
- Players who miss the cutoff can buy Rustiest Blitzcrank for 150,000 Blue Essence in the Blue Essence Emporium, starting with patch 26.24 on December 9, 2026, and in later Emporiums.
- Games played on or after October 21 do not count toward the free grant, even though League Classic stays open until January 6, 2027.
- Rustiest Blitzcrank is the third Rusty skin. Rusty Blitzcrank (2009) is unobtainable, and Rustier Blitzcrank is the Classic Level 30 reward.
You can get Rustiest Blitzcrank in League of Legends in two ways. Riot Games grants it for free to every account that played at least 20 games of League Classic before October 21, 2026. If your account missed that cutoff, you can buy it for 150,000 Blue Essence (BE) in the Blue Essence Emporium, starting with patch 26.24 on December 9, 2026. The skin has no RP price, it is not in Hextech crafting, and Riot has announced no other route.
This guide covers both routes, how to check whether you qualify, what to do if the skin does not show up, and how Rustiest Blitzcrank differs from Rusty Blitzcrank and Rustier Blitzcrank.
What Riot announced
Riot posted the details from the official League of Legends account on X on October 27, 2026:
We're granting Rustiest Blitzcrank to anyone who played at least 20 games of League Classic prior to October 21st, 2026. Check your collection in the coming days to confirm receipt. If you don't meet the cutoff but still want to gather some rust(iest), this skin will be available for 150,000 BE in future Blue Essence Emporiums, starting with Patch 26.24.
Every way to get Rustiest Blitzcrank
| Route | Requirement | Cost | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free grant | At least 20 games of League Classic played before October 21, 2026 | Free | Delivered "in the coming days" after October 27, 2026 |
| Blue Essence Emporium | None | 150,000 BE | From patch 26.24 (December 9, 2026), then in future Emporiums |
| RP store, Hextech crafting, Mythic Shop | Not available | — | No announcement |
Route 1: the free grant for League Classic players
The grant goes to accounts with at least 20 League Classic games played before October 21, 2026. Riot's post sets no win requirement and no Classic Level requirement, so any 20 games count as far as the announcement says. The cutoff has already passed. Games you play in League Classic now, while the mode stays open, do not move your account into the free group.
You do not claim the skin. Riot grants it automatically, and the post tells players to check their collection over the following days.
Route 2: 150,000 Blue Essence in the Blue Essence Emporium
The Blue Essence Emporium is a limited-time shop in the League client where you spend Blue Essence on skins, chromas and other cosmetics. Riot says Rustiest Blitzcrank enters the Emporium with patch 26.24 and stays in the lineup of future Emporiums too, so missing the December event does not lock you out for good. Riot's 2026 patch schedule puts patch 26.24 on December 9, 2026, and it is the last patch of the year.
Save at least 150,000 BE before December 9 if you want the skin in the first Emporium that sells it. Our Essence Emporium page shows the current Emporium lineup and its prices once the event opens.
How to check whether you got Rustiest Blitzcrank
- Open the League client and go to Collection, then Skins.
- Filter by champion and choose Blitzcrank, or type "Rustiest" in the search box.
- If the skin shows as owned, the grant has reached your account.
Riot gave no exact delivery date. If you are sure you played 20 Classic games before October 21 and the skin still has not appeared after a week or two, open a ticket with Riot Player Support and mention the October 27 announcement.
Rusty, Rustier and Rustiest Blitzcrank compared
Rustiest Blitzcrank is the third skin in a series that started with one of the rarest skins in the game. All three look like Blitzcrank's base model in progressively darker shades of gold.
| Skin | Released | How you get it | Still obtainable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rusty Blitzcrank | November 20, 2009 | Sold for 520 RP, removed from the store in early 2010 | No |
| Rustier Blitzcrank | July 29, 2026 (patch 26.15) | Reward for reaching Classic Level 30 in League Classic | Until League Classic closes on January 6, 2027 |
| Rustiest Blitzcrank | July 29, 2026 (patch 26.15) | Free for 20 Classic games before October 21, 2026, or 150,000 BE in the Emporium | Yes, through the Blue Essence Emporium from patch 26.24 |
Riot pulled the original Rusty Blitzcrank after players complained it looked too much like the base skin. Accounts that bought it in 2009 or 2010 still own it, and they can also use it in League Classic. The rarest skins list shows where it sits among other unobtainable skins.
What Rustiest Blitzcrank looks like
Rustiest Blitzcrank has the darkest finish of the three Rusty skins, and Riot's skin data lists new visual effects for it, which the 2009 skin lacks. The League of Legends Wiki notes an easter egg: the pre-rework model of Twitch sits inside Blitzcrank's body. The skin keeps Blitzcrank's base voice, by Duncan Watt. Our Rustiest Blitzcrank page has the splash art and full skin details.
Was Rustiest Blitzcrank ever sold in League Classic?
No. Rustiest Blitzcrank shipped in the game files with League Classic on July 29, 2026, but Riot never put it on sale. In mid-October 2026, the dataminer Spideraxe30 said Riot's Meddler told him the team was "figuring out a different way" to release Rustiest Blitzcrank and Prestige Classic Baron Kog'Maw. The October 27 announcement is that different way.
Some social posts say Rustiest Blitzcrank "came from the Classic IP store", or that Rusty Blitzcrank is the Classic Level 30 reward. Both claims are wrong. Riot's own support article names Rustier Blitzcrank as the Level 30 reward, and Riot's announcement names the free grant and the Emporium as the only routes to Rustiest Blitzcrank.
Can you still get Rustier Blitzcrank?
Yes, until League Classic closes. Riot's support article on Classic progression lists Rustier Blitzcrank as the Classic Level 30 reward, and it says League Classic is available until January 6, 2027. Classic Level 30 needs 13,950 Classic XP in total, by the XP table in that article. Classic XP comes from Classic matches and Classic missions, such as the daily mission for winning a League Classic game (100 Classic XP) and the weekly missions for playing three and six Classic games as different champions (100 Classic XP each).
The free window for Rustiest Blitzcrank has closed, so Blue Essence is now the only way to get it. Rustier Blitzcrank stays earnable through play until January 6, 2027.
